Who runs this
ToiletNearMe is built and run by me, Daniel. I made it because finding a public toilet in the UK is harder than it should be, and the information that exists is scattered across councils, apps and out-of-date pages. I run it as an independent site, and I write and edit the guides myself.
Why the site exists
Everyone needs a toilet sometimes, and for a lot of people — parents with young children, disabled people, older people, and anyone with a medical need — knowing where the nearest usable one is can shape a whole trip. The aim is simple: put UK public toilets, their facilities and their opening hours where known, in one free place that is quick to search and honest about what it does and does not know.
How the data is built
Listings come from the toiletmap.org.uk dataset (CC BY 4.0), synced periodically, de-duplicated, and topped up with postcodes from postcodes.io. Opening hours are optional in the source data, so many listings show “not listed” rather than a guess. There is a fuller explanation on our editorial policy page.
What we don’t do
We do not sell placement in listings or search results, and we do not publish bulk auto-generated articles: every guide and page is checked and edited by a person before it goes live. When a listing is wrong, you can report it or vote on it, and we check corrections before updating.
