Best Public Toilets in Sheffield — Free, Accessible & 4 New Changing Places
Sheffield made significant strides in late 2024: four new Changing Places toilets opened across the city in October, and a new permanent toilet block opened on Rockingham Street — the first new city-centre public facility in years. Age UK Sheffield's 100 Accessible Toilets Campaign
Age UK Sheffield launched its "100 Accessible Toilets Campaign" calling for 100 venues across the city to make their toilets freely available to the public without purchase. The campaign was prompted by the stark reality that Sheffield's Business Improvement District toilet participation scheme (LAVS) had only 7 signed-up venues — an extraordinarily low figure for a major English city. The lack of city-centre toilets has been directly blamed for elderly residents avoiding Sheffield city centre altogether and diverting their spending to out-of-town retail at Meadowhall.
Accessible Toilets and RADAR Key
Sheffield has accessible RADAR key facilities at the Station, Meadowhall, Crystal Peaks, and Weston Park Museum. RADAR keys are available from Sheffield Town Hall for £5 (also available from Disability Rights UK nationally). With the 4 new Changing Places facilities operational from October 2024, Sheffield's accessible provision has improved significantly.
Baby Changing in Sheffield
Meadowhall and Crystal Peaks both have comprehensive baby changing facilities. The new Rockingham Street facility also has family provision. Use our Sheffield baby changing finder for the nearest option.
24-Hour Toilets in Sheffield
